Angora Rabbit - shearing

Here I show you how shear an Angora Rabbit with scissors. The modell in the film is my bonny "Lille My". It's important to strech out the skin on the rabbit and to slightly twist the lower blade of the scissors outwards. The wool is then sorted in 3 qualities. First quality is from the back and sides of the rabbit. It must be without any vegetable matter (vm) and clean "as a whistle", i.e. you have to give the bunny a thorough brush before sharing. Also 1st. quality must be at least 3-4 inch. long. Second quality is also without vm or dirt but may be shorter, but not shorter than 2 inch. It may also be slightly felted (read: very slightly). Third quality I alwas disgard, since it's both dirty and too short. What I also emphasise in this video is, that you'll have to take care to clipp the wiskers of in a way that they will be separated from the wool to be spun - this because the wiskers are so sharp that the will cutt the other fibers and thereby weakening the yarn.
